Design Review and Sign-off - an easier way
Monday, 24 May 2010 10:19

GetSignOff, Web Design, Design Sign-offLast week, I began using an online tool called GetSignoff.com to facilitate the review and approval of design comps with clients. The tool is offered by the team at Headscape.

I have to say, so far I love this tool.  How wonderful to get away from emailing PDFs or images back and forth to clients or working about keeping track of comments and versions.  When you sign up for an account at getsignoff.com, you select a URL for your account, e.g. getsignoff.com/wrightcreativelabs.  A few minutes later I had setup a new project and client, uploaded design comps (jpg, png, and gif are supported), and notified the client that there were new items for them to review.  The interface is clear and simple for clients to use.  Plus, you have a way to capture and document final approval of the design.

The only issue I have found so far is a bug in the drag and drop reorderign functionality when using Firefox or Safari on a Mac.  The support forum notes that this issue is being looked into.  In the meantime, just know that the first image you upload will show last.  Or, use IE8 to reorder your images.  Not a long term fix, but the tool is helpful enough that I'm still planning to use it, and eagerly wait for a fix to this issue.

For just one client, GetSignoff is free.  As I am likely to use this with all of my upcoming projects, I plan to upgrade to the Freelance plan, which is around $15/month (prices are in British pounds). The Freelance Plan allows an unlimited number of clients and projects and 10GB of storage space.  For bigger agencies, there are other plans that provide integration with Basecamp project management software and further customization.

Check it out at GetSignoff.com
